This week, I had the opportunity to attend the 2017 Supplier Diversity Vendor Xchange event. For those of you who might not be familiar, the Supplier Diversity Vendor Xchange is an event that highlights local MBEs (Minority-Owned Business Enterprises) that currently partner with Cleveland State. Now, I realize that to some people this might not sound incredibly exciting. But when you really think about what this means for CSU, it’s pretty amazing to think about.
I learned that CSU is committed to purchasing 10% of all goods and services from MBEs. Think about that for a second. Instead of simply claiming to support minority enterprises or promising to diversify suppliers, CSU has made a documented commitment to form relationships with MBEs. As a Cleveland State student, both in my undergrad and now as a graduate student, learning about this commitment filled me with so much pride for this school. Cleveland State is a community of doers—promises are kept, and true change is made. What a great note to end the week on!
