Introduction to Business Analytics

Course Description

Information has come to be recognized as a critical resource, and business analytics tools play an increasingly critical role in deploying this resource in organizing and structuring information so that it can be used more productively.  The ability to manage 'Big Data' has become a critical capability for organizations.  This course discusses business analytics tools and their application to management problems. 

This is course is offered for both credit and non-credit.  If you enroll as a non-credit student please note you will not receive academic credit for the course, nor can the course be used towards completion of a degree.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to: 

  • Understand the need for business analytics in today's dynamic business environments
  • Know data warehouseing strategies, technologies, designs, and architectures
  • Understand data mining techniques and algorithms (e.g., clustering, classification, predictive modeling, decision trees, neural networks, and visualization)
  • Have sample applications of these technologies and techniques

Audit option: Students have the option to audit a course they have already attended at no charge within one academic year. Interested students must notify the ProDev office requesting to audit a course a minimum of 10 business days prior to the course start date to ensure there is enough seating. Audit students are responsible for their own parking and lunches. New materials will not be provided.

Refund Policy

No refunds will be issued if notification is not received seven business days prior to the first day of class. Registrants who cancel will receive a refund, less a $50 processing fee, if we receive written notification a minimum of seven business days prior to the first day of class.
