Adrian Rutt is a new member of the Professional Development Center team. Adrian is our new Graduate Assistant who is getting his Masters degree in Philosophy. He is a Native of Cleveland and desperately wants to be a hometown hero. Adrian will be writing blogs for us and helping with the daily operations of the Center. To get to know Adrian better, we asked him:
What do you enjoy most about working for ProDev? What I enjoy most is working with the passionate and fun staff. Working in companies that see work as "the daily grind," it's a breath of fresh air to work with people who are so far from this attitude. It helps that we are all passionate about education; it's a noble and worthwhile pursuit.
Given the choice to meet anyone in the world (dead or alive), whom would you want to meet and why? I would love to meet Alexander Hamilton. His life was a roller coaster of events and chance happenings (he was not a native of the colonies), and I'd love to sit down and hear him tell his life story. And I just really want to know what happened at Weehawken.
What is the greatest accomplishment of your life to date? Well the accomplishment I'm most proud of would be giving a presentation on the philosophy of education at a conference in Hull, England last year. Getting a paper accepted without an academic affiliation (at the time) or substantial portfolio was uplifting and confidence boost as well.
What do you like to do for fun? For fun I like to search out good beers and bourbons, drink them, play board games, have conversations, and read. So yes, I can be bribed.
We know from your bio that you are studying philosophy. Who is your favorite philosopher/thinker and why? This is a tie between Richard Rorty and Michael Oakeshott. I am, and continue to be, inspired by these philosophers for reasons that I cannot expound upon in three sentences. So if you want to know the "why" part of the answer, come find me!
