Grant Proposal Development

Course Description

A hands-on grant writing course that is designed to engage the beginning grant writer in the proposal development process and immerses professionals in strategies for success. Students will learn how to customize case statements or program plans to match a specific grant maker's interest, write sections of a proposal and budget, draft an evaluation plan, and articulate the scope of work for staff and subcontractors. Students will gain experience and skills by systematically developing a grant proposal, reviewing the work of professionals and peers, and responding to feedback each step of the way.

Who Should Attend

This course is for beginning grant writers, anyone interested in learning more about the managing proposal development process or earning the Grant Writing Certificate from the Monte Ahuja College of Business, including staff, administrators, volunteers, board members and consultants at non-profit organizations, public or private educational institutions, and government agencies. For-profit businesses seeking grants to fund research or training are welcome as are individual grant seekers such as artists, filmmakers or journalists.

Real-World Application: Deploying systematic methods and strategies to plan, secure and integrate grants into a dynamic funding portfolio is essential for professionals in many industries, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, private and public education, foundations and research. This course covers the practical and conceptual aspects of the proposal development process that are critical to grant writing success.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Possess a complete grant package and toolkit for revisions
  • Gain a better understanding of the critical elements of a proposal
  • Know the strategies and methods used to write successful grants from start to finish

Audit option: Students have the option to audit a course they have already attended at no charge within one academic year. Interested students must notify the ProDev office requesting to audit a course a minimum of 10 business days prior to the course start date to ensure there is enough seating. Audit students are responsible for their own parking and lunches. New materials will not be provided.

Corporate, Custom Availability: Can be custom-tailored to the needs of your organization to provide skills your workforce can apply immediately as a corporate training if requested.

Refund Policy

No refunds will be issued if notification is not received seven business days prior to the first day of class. Registrants who cancel will receive a refund, less a $50 processing fee, if we receive written notification a minimum of seven business days prior to the first day of class.
