This morning I was actually able to enjoy the short walk between my car and the welcoming doors of the College of Business. I say this, because the previous four days upon exiting my car I was greeted with the stinging whoosh of bitter cold (almost) November air. It’s funny, now that it is officially November, that we’ve been given a nice break from the cold front—it’s as if nature is giving us a few more days of tolerable coolness before plunging right into freezing cold temperatures.
Walking through the halls of the College of Business today, I couldn’t help but notice the general fog of fatigue that has settled over the student body. Instead of the usual boisterous murmurs that emerge from the common areas, instead I see the tops of students’ heads as they hunch over various textbooks and PowerPoint slides. It may be the cold weather, or perhaps it’s just the general slump that approaches with the progression of the semester, but whatever it is—it’s really bumming me out!
This week, I had the opportunity to attend the 2017 Supplier Diversity Vendor Xchange event. For those of you who might not be familiar, the Supplier Diversity Vendor Xchange is an event that highlights local MBEs (Minority-Owned Business Enterprises) that currently partner with Cleveland State. Now, I realize that to some people this might not sound incredibly exciting. But when you really think about what this means for CSU, it’s pretty amazing to think about.
This week is ending in a very sober and spooky way. People are still recovering from the Indian’s tragic loss on Wednesday night, both emotionally and physically, as any true Indian’s fan was up until almost midnight to catch the end of the game (insert yawn here). This, along with tonight being the infamous Friday the 13th seems to have put a damper on the upcoming weekend. But I’m here to tell you—don’t let this loss get you down! If there’s anything I know about Cleveland, it’s that nothing comes easy.
Fresh off a three-day weekend, I find myself staring down the barrel of a school season in full swing. Meaning, Monday is presenting me with three Professional Development classes to prepare for: Powerful Presentations, Critical Conversations, and Social Media Marketing. Can you imagine how much smarter you'd be if you could take all three at once?
